Today life on the river is much warmer but, with the 45 mile an hour winds it feels colder than 52 degrees. I must admit that I can deal with the wind, and 50 degrees better than that below zero stuff we have been getting.
The ice has moved out of the river two times this winter which is not normal....The river has froze over again now, and we are dealing with ice jams....There is a jam down stream a few miles, and two up stream. The river is flooding below us, and above us, so we are watching it real close, because with ice jams it rises very fast. I see it is starting to back up some now in are low ground.
Smoke on the water! I took this picture one morning when it was below zero, and the river was steaming because the water was warmer than the air..
This I took just around the first of January when it was warm enough that the ice broke up, and moved out!
The Eagles have been here a lot with the ice open, looking for food
This is an Eagles nest....We have several around us but, this one I could take a picture of from the road! I wish you could see just how big this nest is...The tree it is in is a very large, tall tree.
Another shot of the nest.
It was snowing real pretty the other day, and there was a pheasant in the snow but, he decided to fly just when I was getting ready to take this picture.
Have you ever seen a black Pheasant? The picture is blurry but you can see him good enough to tell he is black..There is another pheasant just at the bottom right that is normal color.
Our tractor in the snow.
Hawk sitting in wait for a meal near where I feed the birds...This Hawk is to big to catch a small bird but, he will try when hungry, will catch Pheasants, and rabbits for sure.
Two large birds eating on the carcass of a deer. I was never able to tell just what kind of hawk or Eagle these two were?
This is my most awesome bird photo because, this bird is rare around this part of the country... I had never seen one before.... one day me and my bf were sitting having coffee, and watching the birds feeding when all of a sudden this bird flew in, and caught one of the small Junco birds. I right away knew this was not any Hawk or regular kind we see. It killed the little bird and flew away with it. I got my bird book out, and found out it was a
Loggerhead Shrike Rare in the midwest, and feeds on insects, mice and small birds. I took this photo one day when he showed up I had my camera ready. He looks pretty innocent just a pretty bird but, when he came in, every little bird around here went into hiding!!! I wish this picture was better but, I took it out of my garage window, And it was dirty!
This song takes me back to the years when my family raced bikes! Looking at this video today I realize how nuts I was back then!!! I bit the dust several times back then, and seen many friends do the same. We were racing flat track and scramble....some motor cross! Somewhat different than what you see these bikers do! Queen
" Another one bites the Dust "
I really love this song! One of their best I think.
DIXIE CHICKS " Traveling Soilder "
I love this song but, really not much into Howard the Duck...Sorry, wish I would have posted a different one!
This fountain with the Horses is at the entrance to Atlantis Royal Towers....It was my favorite
!
Another beautiful fountain with Flying Fish...It was located just passed the lagoon where the Sharks & Sting Rays were.
Some Sharks in the lagoon.
The keeper feeding the Sting Rays.
As you can see they are used to being hand fed.
More Rays
This is just a picture of one of the lagoons.
Atlantis has many pretty waterfalls'
I thought this was cool since I had never seen a Hummer Limo before!
You can Para-Sail for 50.00. It was awesome, and if you don't want to get wet they can launch you and get you back into the boat without ever touching the water.
This was a native selling coconuts filled with some kind of alcoholic beverage...Not sure what it was but, very tasty, and made the Para- Sailing much more interesting!
I posted this picture because, for one it was very pretty...You could buy the ornaments. All were hand made from seashells....The other reason I posted it is that everywhere in Nassua they still had Christmas decorations up! I guess they leave them up all year???
A Seagull looking for food, or maybe he was drinking Heineken?
We were sitting at a bar up above street level drinking Margaritas, and I thought this was a nice picture because what you see sticking up in the background is a cruise ship.
Heres two bartenders that I blame for one of my days of getting a bit tipsy...
My favorite place...Senior Frogs! Best Margaritas in Nassua, and a very good place to get smashed, and forget your not in America, also get lost, forget your room number!
Senior Frogs!
Senior Frogs...
Senior Frogs...The aftermath
The Dolphin encounter was really cool...You had to have a reservation, and only 12 people at a time could get in the water with them! I did not take my camera when we knew we would be in the water, so no pictures of the water fun I had!
I took this picture at the Hard Rock Cafe when I was there trying their Margaritas....By the way theirs were not as good as Senior Frogs! Cheech & Chongs Guitar...
SIX WHITE HORSES by Tommy Cash ....(Johnny Cash's younger brother)!
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s last speech. I think he made this speech in Memphis Tennessee the day before he was assassinated... Don't forget to click on the link below to hear his most famous speech "I Have A Dream" if you would like to hear it! I never get tired of hearing it myself!
Sorry..... I was gonna do a post about my trip but, other things came up, and just can't right now...... I hope you enjoy Jeff Healey.....I got some history about him from Wikipeda, for anyone that has never heard of him. His story is very interesting!!!
Life and career
Born in Toronto, Healey was raised in the city's west end. His father was a firefighter. Healey is blind; he lost his sight when he was one year old, due to cancer of the eyes—his eyes had to be surgically removed, and he was given artificial replacements. Nevertheless he began playing guitar when he was only three, developing his unique style of playing the instrument flat on his lap.
When he was seventeen he formed the band Blue Direction. This band was a four-piece band, primarily playing bar-band cover tunes; among the other musicians were bassist Jeremy Littler, drummer Graydon Chapman, and a schoolmate, Rob Quail on second guitar. This band played various local clubs in Toronto, including the Colonial Tavern.
Shortly thereafter, he was introduced to two musicians, bassist Joe Rockman and drummer Tom Stephen, and formed a trio, who made their first public appearance at The Birds Nest, located upstairs at Chicago's Diner on Queen Street West in Toronto. The new band received a write-up in Toronto's NOW magazine, and quickly were playing almost nightly in local clubs such as Grossman's Tavern and the famed blues club Albert's Hall. At this point, Jeff and the band were featured in a movie, Road House, which was inspired when its creator saw Jeff playing. With the resulting stardom, they soon signed with Arista Records and in 1988 released See The Light, which included the hit single "Angel Eyes". The song "Hideaway" was nominated for the "Best Instrumental" Grammy Award, and in 1990 the band won the "Entertainer of the Year" Juno Award. Other hits have included "How Long Can a Man Be Strong" and a cover of The Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".
