My Life On The River

 Where has Summer Gone?

It's hard to believe its mid August already.....Summer flew by for me.I guess its the age thing.I was always told the older you get the faster time goes by!
That sounds wrong to me,it should be the other way around.
Oh well,I love Fall of the year! Its my favorite season...

Here is a few photos of my flowers, and a couple pictures of nature at my place!

This is one of my Hibiscus plants...

A White Dinner Plate, called that because the Flower is the size of a dinner plate...Very pretty!

wine red Hibiscus.

Pink One.

I like to take pictures of the Butterflies. This one is on a wild flower called Purple Cone Flower! Butterflies, and Gold Finches love this flower!

We call this Pheasant Bob,because his tail feathers are gone or just have not grown in all the way yet,but he is like a pet...Not to afraid to come close to house, and eat the food I put out for the Squirrels, and Birds!

Last Full Moon!

This is a flock of Pelicans. I had to zoom in on them so the picture is not very good, but they fly very high, and depend on the air currents to take them where they are going. They don't have to use their wings much, like most birds!
We have had flocks of them land on the river to feed on their migation...Really cool thing to see!

Last is just a picture of the pink Hibiscus bush with the Red one behind it!

I pick the seeds off of the Hibiscus plants when they finish blooming, and give them away.
They are very easy to grow, and get bigger, and prettier every year.
If anyone would like some seeds just let me know!
I have found that a seed from a red plant can be red, pink, pink lace,or white....So you don't know what color your gonna get until it blooms!

 Canned Heat--Little Red Rooster---

I wanted to just do Canned Heat for the Saturday Night Blog Fever!
The reason is the guitar player Alan Wilson, when they did Woodstock he was just a very young man,but he was awesome...Into his music, and never showed any emotion except when he was playing the guitar!
He suffered from some kind of depression, and the last song on this list was his last preformance....He died I think one week later!

-----------Little Red Rooster------------
Woodstock 1969, "Canned Heat"

---------------ON The Road Again----------------

---------Human Condition-----------

This was Alan Wilson's last performance, before he died.....
I think! Let me know if I am wrong about that!
This show was done in Holland!

 CIVIL WAR

I enjoying reading about our history, and war history is my favorite subject.
When sitting at the airport waiting for my flight I went looking for something to read, and I found a magazine on the Civil War,so I bought
it,and I wanted to share some of it with y'all. This first picture is of the Confederate flag, and how much it sold for
at auction recently.

Banners of Dixie

Confederate regimental, and battle flags epitomized the heart and soul of Southern soldiers, and despite the high mortality of color bearers, men vied for the honor of carrying their units emblems into battle. These three banners, two of which were captured by Union troops, recently sold at a auction Galleries sale in Nashville,Tenn.
4th Tennessee Infantry twelve six pointed stars ornament this banner, although only 11 states formally joined the confederacy, the extra star paid tribute to the men who served in the Rebel army from the boarder states of Missouri, and Maryland.
The flag was carried at Shiloh, and proudly displayed at a reunion of veterans of that fight....

It sold for...........$101,575

This picture is small, but it was 3rd. Tennessee Infantry Regimental Flag. It sold for...$101,575

Virginia Regimental Flag...Belonging to the 9th Virginia, when they retreated to Appomattox.
It Sold for............$59,750

CIVILIANS WOULD
Never forget the sight of Dr's cutting off peoples arms, and legs, and throwing them out...just like throwin' out old sticks

Three other bloodbaths....

Gettysburg July 1-3 1863 Confederate dead....28,083
Union Dead..........23,043
Total dead..........51,112

Chickamauga Sept,19-20 1863 Confederate dead..18,454
Union dead........16,170
Total dead.......34,624

Chancellorsville May, 1-4 Confederate dead..12,278
Union dead........17,278
Total dead........30,099

Total count just for these
Battles and Antietam ..........................23,000
Total .......................................138,853

Remember that is not counting the ones that died later from their wounds, and other battles that I did not list!

More soldiers lost there lives fighting the Civil War,than all the other wars we fought put together! That is shocking to me....
I have not studied it enough to know the total number dead when the war finally ended!
