Sorry I was gone, and could not let anyone know what was going on but on Friday the 13th My computer died!!! On Saturday I woke up with an allergic reaction to something and dont know what it was that caused it,but I am still suffering with really severe hives....they itch so bad...its driving me crazy! I went to the hospital er,and they gave me 2 shots which almost killed me.....I was just feeling bad from the hives... then after the 2 shots they gave me, I started feeling very sick,my blood pressure drop from normal down to 70/45,and my oxygen level dropped very low,so then this nurse starts putting an iv in my vein and blew that vein out,so she looking for another vein to stick....finally she sticks the needle in and keeps poking around until she gets a a vein! The Dr. was worried until my blood pressure started to come back up.. I learned a great lesson!!! I will never got to that hospital again for anything..... I am so happy to be back! I missed you all very much! Love,Dixie
What is going on with us anyway???? I just don't get why we can't all get along, and live in peace!
I have some photos to post when I get them developed,of the wild prairie grasses, and flowers! Its looking good after the burn this spring! I know not to many people get excited about what looks to some as just weeds, but for us it is the results of over 5 years of work to restore it back to natural prairie like it was over 150 years ago! I think it is so special to see the grass blowing in the wind, and the beauty of the wildflowers scattered everywhere....Its the same sight that the pioneers seen as they made their way west! Well anyway its the little things like this that I live for....Much work, but the rewards are great
I have never seen a Hummer build its nest anywhere but in trees...but as you see here this female did not need a tree! certainly makes it good for viewing them!
I feed alot of Hummers. They arrive here around May 1,and leave as soon as the weather turns cold! For anyone that feeds alot of Hummers I make my own food. The Hummers like it better, and its much cheaper! Here is the recipe in case you don't have it.
3 parts water to 1 part sugar
Mix until the sugar dissolves, and the liquid boils for 1 to 2 minutes. Cool, and pour into your feeder.
Dump out the old food every few days, and clean feeder before refilling! (Note) You can do 4parts water to 1part sugar, but the birds like the sweeter mixture! ((((Never use any thing but real sugar!))))
They are territorial so try to have feeders in other places!
