My Life On The River

 Chipping sparrows

Early this spring we planted some small shrubs close to the house. We had hardly finished planting when this little bird flew into one of the shurbs.I really thought at first that it was just looking for food but the activity continued,so I went to the shrub and looked in and I could see the start of a tiny nest. Now these shrubs are only about 2 or 3 feet tall,so the nest was only about 2' off the ground.Soon there was 4 tiny blue eggs in the nest. They are about the size of a jelly bean. These little birds were so tame,I could be working in my flowers just a few feet from them and they would come and go as if they knew I was not gonna hurt them or there babies.
I dont think there could be another bird that is so dedicated to reproducing. No sooner did they get one batch hatched and on their way,and they are building another nest in one other shrub.Well this has been going on all summer. They are now sitting on the fourth batch. So next year I am sure there will be a good crop of Chipping sparrows! Stage one.
Stage two.
Stage three.....4 hungery mouths to feed!

 Albino Whitetail Deer Fawn

This fawn was found in Texas by a couple out for a drive when they seen this tiny baby in the road.Thinking it was a baby goat they took it home.
I dont know when but they soon realized that they had something very unique,so they called the Dept.Of Natural Resoures and the fawn was turned over to them.
I have seen a few pictures of albino adult deer but they are very rare. In the state I live in it is illegal to shoot any all white deer, but who in the world would want to shoot one???
Anyway I just wanted to share it with anyone that hasent seen one because it is so cool!
