My Life On The River

 Who'll Stop The Rain

I have never seen a Spring like this before....With a record number of deadly tornadoes, and never ending rain.

I like this song, and thought it was a good one to go with this post!!!

 Stormy week-end

I took these pictures on Saturday as this wicked storm moved through my area, and produced a tornado up near Chicago. It was trying to become one here but, happy that all we got was broken limbs, and a few trees down.

I feel so sorry for the people in Indiana that got flooded so bad that
many lost everything!

We have had much bad weather around here. Power was off so many times I finally decided to quit trying to reset all my clocks.....Now I just watch them blink.

Its raining still, and we don't need it.
I just wish it would go south to Kentucky. I hear they need it down there.

Johnny Cash & Billy Graham in Texas 1971

Yesterday I watched one of the old Billy Graham shows, and it inspired me to do this post.
I always was moved by listening to Billy Graham preach. I think he was the most know preacher in the world.
I posted this song before but, it was along time ago, so I thought it would be ok to do it again for those that were not around then.

This is a Gospel song that Johnny Cash wrote, and he is singing it here at San Quentin.
I look at the faces of these men as they listen to this song, and wonder just what they are feeling???

 Tribute to Eight Belles.

Eight Belles broke both front legs after she crossed the finish line in second place at the Kentucky Derby. She was a magnificent filly, and it was a sad day for the Kentucky Derby when she had to be put down right on the track that day. Left many people questioning how race horses are treated.

EIGHT BELLES

I dedicate this song to Eight Belles!

Daniel Grayling Fogelberg (August 13, 1951 – December 16, 2007) was an American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, whose music was inspired by sources as diverse as folk, pop, classical, jazz, and bluegrass music. He wrote this song for the 1980 Kentucky Derby.
Dan Fogelberg died just a little over a year ago from Prostrate Cancer.

Baby and some more Spring pictures.

Sorry I have not had much time to blog lately. Its been one thing after another...Much company, The weather knocking out everything for 4 days, and work to be done in the yard. Just to tired to get on the computer, and do a post or anything.
I find it hard to be inside when the weather is nice, so I guess I am a bad day blogger.

Heres some things that I took pictures of just a few days ago, except for the Deer....That picture was taken a few years ago, and it made the front page of the big newspaper in the big city. When the guy that came to my house to do a human interest story on me Rehabing Wildlife. he took this picture along with some others of me feeding baby Coons, and others things....
He is starting to get his antlers in this picture, and is about 14 months old.

Baby, is a fawn I raised a few years ago,And when I got him he was very sick with Intestinal infection. Just a tiny thing, I guess he was maybe 3 or 4 days old. I all most lost him a couple times but, with the help of my vet and many months of TLC he survived, and was able to run wild with the other deer. He would come back and see me from time to time until he learned to be to cautious to be around people. He was very affectionate. Always wanted to lick my face. I think it is what they do in the wild with their deer family.

Pileated Woodpecker. He is the largest woodpecker in north America. He showed up here about a week ago at the dead stump. After he was done with it he had pecked off much of the old bark looking for bugs.

Nest of the sweet Chipping Sparrow. They nest in my scrubs every year. The scrubs is only two foot tall. I guess they like to build low???

I think this is a pretty color for Iris. The first year it has bloomed for me.

I just put this one up because it has 3 Indigo Buntings feeding at once. I don't see that happen much.

I was walking in my yard last week and I almost stepped on this tiny baby Snapping Turtle. I picked him up to move him to the water where he was heading but, of course I had to get a few pictures of him to show everyone on my blog..... His shell was the size of a fifty cent piece.

The last two pictures are of my Black Iris that is blooming for the first time too. I just love it...Wish they lasted longer.
