My Life On The River

Why are the Honey Bees dying???
Back to Full Blog

I really noticed it this year with all the flowers I have, and fruit trees....I seen NO Honey Bees. I seen other types of Bees but, not one Honey bee to be found around me.
I have had other bloggers tell me they have not been seeing them either.
Last night on the evening news was a segment on what is happening to our Bees, and it was then that I realized this is something very serious.
It is not just in America but spreading all over the world.
Although many scientist, and environmentalist have been searching for the cause no one knows yet why they are dying.
It says in this video that Einstein predicted, if the bees die, man will have only 4 years, and then they too will die off.
Are you seeing Honey Bees in your part of the country, or have you noticed the decline also???

Dixie - that video was awesome!!!! And it is true that the bees are smaller in number and that was something I have heard in North Dakota for the last couple of years.
A couple things; We as humankind have not done our godly duty in caring for the creation as He instructed us in Genesis; now we are paying for our sloppiness.
As I read the Einstein quote I immediately thought about how people are asking me about what I believe about the thing that the world is going to end in 2012. The immediate math in my head says - bees dead and man dead in four years - ummm - that is 2012. A bit scary to say the least. Is it possible that we will really destruct our own selves from the face of the earth in our madness to make life better and more convenient?
And the video also mentioned the collapse of our society - we are already doing a good job of working towards that here in America. WEll - I better cut this off; maybe will think of a post about this along with the daily acronym. June

as with any creature, if God wants more, He will make them again, but not for this world and its societies.Honeybees are scarce, but things still get pollinated. As far as Einstein goes, he was a genius in Physics and an authority in nothing else, so his 4 year statement is just BS and gross speculation. Most staple food crops are not bee reliant anyway which helps to debunk that notion.I basically worry not, since this world is on a rapid slide to its end. Very interesting video. It is a scary thought but we have no one to blame but ourselves the way we have polluted the earth.

Hi June, You know I noticed that we were not seeing honey bees here, and I think you said some people you talked to said they were not seeing bees, and also I have had another blogger say the same thing.
I was concerned then but, after watching the news last night I got very concerned, so I went on youtube and watched some of the stories about the bees dieing off then I got very worried.
I am so against what the farmers are doing these days but, they want bigger yields, so they spray so many chemicals on everything...I really am amazed that we have any insects left.
I have fought with my B/F lots over the past 10 years because he wants to spray for everything, and I have put my foot down. He was spraying the grass for weeds, and then I found a dead Bluebird. I threw a fit, and he has not sprayed anymore.
He complains to people that we have weeds in our yard because of me, and biting insects because I will not let him use chemicals on our grass.
I have read a lot about the chemicals that people use to keep their grass nice causing cancer in dogs, and cats.
I think if it kills plants, and insects then it could kill other living things as well.
I could go on all day talking about how I feel about chemicals.
So for now no one knows what is killing the bees. I hope and pray they find out the cause before they are gone for good.
Thanks for your visit June.

hello Dixie great post!! One thing that was said that i do not agree with, he said its not God doing this. I for one will say it is God doing this for he is in control of this world and where it is going.
God has allowed this to come about and many other thing to set this earth up for his return and for the things this earth will have to endure after his return. Dixie i the bible tells us about the earth and how it will become hot. there will be famine and many more hardships to come. man wants to point his finger at man and we blame each other for all of our problems and i will say we are the blame in most cases and the biggest blame is that we want live by Gods word we want do what he wants us to do we want love him and we sure want give him the respect he is due.

with all the blaming going on and pointing of fingers Dixie I wonder why we just can not amitt that we are the blame for the mess we are in because we will not listen to God and we will do it our way for thats is what i think has caused us to be in this shape we are in now because we have turned our back on him.

I know this thought falls on deaf ears but it is my thought on what is happening to this world sorry if i said to much this is your place and i do not want to wear out my welcome here that is for sure.

if this comment is in any way is on the hurtfull side pleas feel free to can it. always glad to get to stop by this place and see you and i am glad we are friends W.O.H.

Hi Ron, Thats a great question!
I remember when DDT was still being used. When I was a child, and stayed with my Grandmother in Mississippi in the summer when school was out. I would see the crop dusters fly within a few feet of her house spraying DDT on the Cotton fields. I thought it was so cool to have the plane come so close, and it never crossed my mind the stuff they were spraying was bad for people or animals.
Well as we all know now, DDT almost wiped out many species of birds before it was discovered that the DDT was causing the bird eggs to not form a hard shell, so the eggs were soft and broke. Birds could not reproduce.
DDT is no longer used in America but, we have many new chemicals today. The long term effect of them on our country is not know yet.
I hope we are able to solve the problem with the Bees before its to late.
I think we need to pray that we find the reason they are dieing, and can fix it before they are all dead.
Dixie

Hi Chris, your right Einstein was a genius in physics, and what he said about if "all Bees" died mankind would only be able to live for 4 years after. I am not sure what he meant by that. Maybe he was saying.... if the earth is not fit for Bees to live on and they die because of some chemical or illness then the same thing will kill humans also??? I really don't know, and I don't claim to be smart enough to know what he meant, all I am saying is something is happening here, and we need to pay attention to it.
Thanks for stopping by Chris, and for your comment. I am just raising the question, and praying we find the answer.

Dixie - your post today actually made me have the thought for the post I did today and since I had just taken a beautiful picture of a yellowjacket wasp/hornet I posted it too. It is indeed a scary world that we now live in; and I am seriously working to right as much as I can but indeed I cannot help but think of all the harm I have caused over the years. june

No WOH Your thoughts do not fall on deaf ears.
I think that most of the people that read my blog agree. Our world is in the shape it is in because we have not taken care of it like God intended, and God does have the power to take it away from us....I know that. The one thing the man said in the video was his way of saying don't blame God......its our fault that this is happening because we are so greedy, and careless with what God gave us. We throw trash around and never consider that a plastic bag will be in there for a thousand years. God gave us everything we need to live good here on earth, and if we miss use it he will take it away.
I really never intended for this post to be about anything but, looking for the reason our Honey Bees are dieing off. I thought it was something we all needed to be aware of since the Bees are so important to us.
I think its a very serious problem that needed to be talked about.
Open for any comment that anyone wants to make.
So you are my friend and I would never get upset with you for saying how you feel about what the man said. I should have payed more attention to his words.

Thanks for visiting me, and for your comment on this matter!

Thanks Miss Lou, I agree with you.... we are the blame, and in time the way we treat our world will come back to haunt us.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope your Thursday has been good!

I had not heard about the bees dying off. I am glad tyo report I still have an abundance of them here in our flower beds and they just love my herbs. I have to be very careful walking in the grass because they love the clover as well. Then again I like out in the country so maybe it hasnt effected my part yet. Interesting thought about the 2012 and the bee connection though.

Bear Hugs!

Hi Polar Bear, I was not even thinking about the 2012 prediction when I posted this. I am worried very much about our Bees dying. Its good to hear from you that you have lots of Honey Bees in your area. Your the first person to report that.
If you want to know more about this you can read much on youtube.
Thanks for visiting me, and letting me know how the Bees are doing in your part of the country.

Interesting... I haven't really noticed around here. I've seen some bees, but I don't recall seeing more or less than normal.

I hope they do find out what is causing them to die...

The chemicals, hormones, preservatives, etc are what is making our children grow up (physically) too fast too.

Have a great weekend, Dixie!

I know Secret, I really makes me mad that they have to mess with everything to get it to produce more. I dont think they give a dam about what it could do to us, they only care about making more money!
Some countries will not buy American beef because we use growth hormones to make the beef grow fast.
Thats good you have not noticed the Bees are still around your area. There are none around me. We have wasp, and some other types but not any Honey Bees!
Thanks for stopping. Hope you have a good weekend!

I heard a report just last week about the "Mystery of the Disappearing Honey Bees". Very puzzling...Something else sorta strange is the fact that there are MUCH fewer hummingbirds this year. Have you noticed that? I've heard others commenting about it too.

Hi lagirl, and welcome to my blog!
I think that we had more hummers last year than this. I sure hope they don't die off....I love my hummers.
I have not seen one Honey Bee at my house this year. I have many flowers, and clover fields so in the past we had lots of Bees. This year none. It has me worried.
Thanks for stopping by and letting me know what the Bees are like around you. I hope you stop by again! Dixie
